Presentation Details

In this enlightening session at the Talking with the Experts Online Business Summit, Dr. Jim Salvucci reveals a powerful truth: every leadership challenge is, at its core, a teaching challenge. Drawing on over three decades of experience as an English professor, university executive, and corporate leadership consultant, Jim demonstrates how the skills that exceptional teachers use—clear communication, empathy, goal setting, and responsiveness—are precisely the qualities great leaders must embody.

Far from being separate domains, teaching and leading share an intertwined purpose: to guide, inspire, and foster growth in others. Effective leaders, much like masterful teachers, create environments where team members feel valued, supported, and encouraged to stretch beyond their comfort zones. Jim emphasizes that great teachers are also committed learners, and so, every great leader must continuously learn and evolve. By embracing a mindset of lifelong learning and values-driven decision-making, leaders can become catalysts for lasting change.

During this presentation, attendees will learn how to align personal values with organizational missions, thereby elevating team morale, performance, and innovation. Jim’s approach goes beyond theoretical ideas, offering practical strategies and actionable insights that leaders can implement immediately.

With a Ph.D. in English, extensive academic administration experience, and multiple leadership certifications, Jim draws from a breadth of knowledge—from rhetorical analysis to habit formation—to help leaders navigate complex challenges with confidence and grace. His forthcoming book, Greater than Great: How to Excel in Leadership through Learning, Logic, and Life, further expands on these concepts.

Whether you’re an established executive, a mid-level manager, or an aspiring leader, you’ll leave this session with a renewed understanding of leadership’s true essence. Discover how blending the art of teaching with the science of leadership can create a more impactful, cohesive, and forward-thinking organization.
